American Formulating and Manufacturing
Known more familiarly as AFM, they manufacture a broad line of water based paints,stains, sealers, adhesives and maintenance materials. AFM's products are formulated with the more chemically sensitive person in mind, virtually eliminating toxic materials and VOCs and reducing offgassing to almost zero. No animal testing is used. Packaging is recycled. LEED eligible.
Newly available in the United States, Rubio Monocoat Oil is a plant-based wood finish that contains no volatile organic compounds, is engineered to apply in one coat, and produces an extremely durable, lasting finish. It is applied in a clear finish and in 34 color finishes.
NatureStain Co.
A blend of acrylic emulsion with a patent-pending emulsion of a soybean oil derivative resulting in a semi-transparent, penetrating stain/sealer which effectively colorizes and seals fiber cement siding against harmful penetrating moisture. They claim it will not blister, crack, peel or discolor from efflorescence — or fade beyond normal standards for the area of application. NatureStain™ is biodegradable and virtually VOC-free.
Fine Paints of Europe
Founded in 1987 to import high-performance Dutch paints and finishes by the Hermann A. Schreuder Company. Completely free of lead and mercury. All Schreuder finishes are claimed to be produced according to the most scientifically advanced high-solids/low VOC methods. LEED eligible.
