GreenSage® is a pioneer in green living and green design. We've been committed to sustainability for decades, and became one of the first online sources for organic and green products in 1999. Its interesting to note that both GreenSage and another website claim to be the original online source for green products for the home. Actually, we both are. Unbeknownst to one another in 1999 in the same city by the Bay, San Francisco, we each launched our websites offering green products. Once we discovered one another, we had an amicable, co-opetition style business relationship — long before the term conscious capital was part of our culture. It was clear that the time was perfectly right. Before then, there was no easy place for people to find environmentally friendly products all in one easy to use place.

Still, GreenSage is certainly both original and unique. Our background: Since 1988 we had been helping clients and customers identify the relationship of health concerns to indoor air quality. Our founder made a commitment to develop GreenSage from her personal experience with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS). Healing herself has taken focus, persistence and dedicated research resulting in a passion to contribute to making not only her home, but YOUR home a healthier place. Always turning toward optimism and creative thinking, she turned her personal health misfortune into a leaning experience, became an expert in healthy, non-toxic living and is quite proud of this achievement — turning misfortune into something that helps others (and the planet). You see, MCS is completely avoidable for you and your family. GreenSage can show you how with their expertise and the right green products.

In 2009 we relocated from San Francisco to Columbus, Ohio. Although we discontinued offering continuing education courses in sustainable design for interior designers, GreenSage remains focused on design oriented sustainable furnishings and comprehensive information. Today, we still offer some of the best and beautiful organic, sustainable, and vintage home furnishings for your home right here on our GreenSage.com website. And we continue designing interiors to create beautiful, sustainable, life-supporting environments.

Confused about green? The words sustainable and green commonly refer to non-toxic, recycled, reclaimed, natural, biodegradable, organic, repurposed, reused. . . . Its based simply on wise green living. We require that all of our products meet our Green Product Approval Policy and Standards, based upon meeting at least one of these describing attributes. No "green-washing" here!
