Hemp Fabrics - Heavier Upholstery weight hemps
Choose from our 100% hemp, or hemp/cotton blends. 56" or 57" wide in combinations of natural, semi-bleached or low impact dyed tones and varyious weaves. Weights as indicated under each fabric's image. Hemp Herringbone is available in either 16 oz. or 10.5 oz. weights.
Great for any of your upholstery needs.
Why choose hemp? It is the perfect harmony with nature that makes hemp one of Earth's oldest crops dating back thousands of years to China. Hemp plants have deep roots to strengthen the topsoil, are watered half as much as other crops due to its super absorption, and grows naturally without pesticides as a result of its weed-like performance, shading out all other competing plants.
Unfortunately, it is illegal to grow hemp in the U.S. The ban was created in 1937 because of the government's indifference to the distinctions between hemp and its cousin, marijuana, despite its miniscule psychotropic content. Therefore, all hemp is imported into the U.S. primarily from China or Romania.
