Hemp and hemp blends Fabrics
Hemp blends at left range from 4.6 oz. to 7 oz. and are suitable for lighter weight uses such as window or pillow coverings, tabletop and bedtop.
Why choose hemp? It is the perfect harmony with nature that makes hemp one of Earth's oldest crops dating back thousands of years to China. Hemp plants have deep roots to strengthen the topsoil, are watered half as much as other crops due to its super absorption, and grows naturally without pesticides as a result of its weed-like performance, shading out all other competing plants.
Unfortunately, it is illegal to grow hemp in the U.S. The ban was created in 1937 because of the government's indifference to the distinctions between hemp and its cousin, marijuana, despite its miniscule psychotropic content. Therefore, all hemp is imported into the U.S. These, primarily from China or Romania.
