Engineered Horizontal Grain Bamboo
Make sure that your bamboo flooring is well-manufactured to avoid expensive problems. Bamboo is a high-performance flooring product, but only if it is well-made by an experienced manufacturer using quality raw material, adhesives, and milling equipment.
Our engineered bamboo flooring is made of a 1/8" bamboo wear layer over a pine and rubberwood backing, using a virtually formaldehyde-free adhesive, meeting European E1 standards for formaldehyde emissions. Middle layer runs perpendicular to top and bottom layers to prevent cupping and warping. Square-edged 4-sided T&G construction prevents V-grooves between planks.
A highly renewable resource, timber bamboo is harvested only four years after being planted. The rubberwood (also fast-growing) is from rubber plantations that discard trees which no longer produce rubber. The thin layer of pine is plantation-grown on former grazing land.
This floor can be nailed to plywood, glued to concrete, or floated. "Floated" is an installation process where the planks are glued to each other and not to the subfloor. Flooring thickness is 9/16" (Wear Layer: 1/8"). Face Width: 5-3/4" in 73-1/4" Lengths.
LEED® Eligibility: MR Credit 6 (Rapidly Renewable Materials) and IEQ Credit 4 (Low-emitting materials).
It is available in two grains and two colors. Prefinished only.
Two grains: Horizontal grain shows the face of a typical bamboo stalk and is notable for the distinct knuckles formed by the joints in the bamboo stalk. Vertical grain exhibits the side view of a cut bamboo stalk plied together.
Finish: Satin sheen aluminum oxide enhanced UV-cured acrylic urethane with scratch-resistant hardened acrylic top-coat.
Two colors: Available in a blond natural color and a warm amber, often referred to as "carbonized", which is the result of steaming the bamboo stalks before processing them into flooring.
Taber test result: 20,000 cycles to wear-through. Janka hardness test results: 1,350-1,600 lbs./sq.in. (harder than Red Oak).
Manufacturers warranties for residential: Lifetime warranty against defects and finish wear-through. 30-year warranty against finish wear-through.
Manufacturers warranties for commercial: 10-yr commercial warranty against construction defects / 10-year warranty against finish wear-through.
Bundle Size: 17.42 square feet per box
