One of the world's leading wood preservative manufacturers, CSI announced that it will transition certain non-industrial uses to arsenic-free alternatives between now and the end of 2003. A subsidiary of Rockwood Specialties Inc., CSI was recently recognized by the U.S. EPA for its non-arsenic wood preservative, Alkaline Copper Quaternary (ACQ).

Osmose Wood Preserving, Inc.
Manufactures and supplies chemicals and technology for the protection of wood against fungal decay and insect attack including Advance GuardTMpressure-treated wood products using Tim-Bor® sodium-borate. Transitioning certain uses of their conventional CCA-preservative toward production of NatureWood® brand pressure-treated wood products, made without chromium or arsenic, approved by the American Wood Preservers' Association for certain applications.

Valhalla Wood Preservatives, Ltd.
Makers of LifeTime Wood Treatment, claimed to be a highly effective wood treatment made up of naturally occurring plant and mineral substances. Their 60 year old recipe has been handed down through generations of family craftsmen. In 1990, a landscape architect, impressed with the product used on a fence in a major development project, convinced Valhalla to make their product more available. Norwest Labs tested and found no toxic residues from fence base soil samples.
