With a market share of more than 60 %, Forbo is the world's leading supplier of Linoleum, one of the Group's core products. Assurance of the long-term sustainability of the environment is part of their corporate strategy.
In
1998 they received the Netherlands Environmental Quality Mark
for their products, Marmoleum, Artoleum, Walton and Corklinoleum.
The awards criteria for linoleum covers the whole life cycle,
from energy consumption during manufacturing, emissions, through
to waste disposal. In addition, packaging and product information
must meet specific requirements.
Forbos
Marmoleum and Artoleum are natural linoleum made from cork flour
(much from the scrap of wine cork production), linseed oil from
the flax plant, wood waste from controlled and replanted forestry
zones, limestone, pine resin, organic pigments and backed with
natural jute. It is an all natural floor covering which the manufacturer
claims to be non-toxic.
Marmoleum
and Artoleum are claimed to have no adverse health issues, either
during production, the products useful life, or disposal.
The bactericidal properties of linoleum prevent micro-organisms
from multiplying.
With
applications in education and health as well as offices and public
buildings, their new Marmoleum Global 1 collection received various
design awards. In the residential area, Forbo recently introduced
their innovative collection, Tweeds & Crocodiles.
They are developing new applications for linoleum outside the
floor covering area, i. e. products for the furniture industry
or kitchen fittings.
Good adhesives for installation include Forbos own specially developed 100% solvent-free adhesives.
