Whether you're looking for sustainable drapery panels or sustainable curtains, GreenSage is the place to come.
The word "linen" is derived from the Latin for the flax plant, which is linum, and the earlier Greek linon. Today the word is used to describe woven textiles of almost any fiber such as bed linens and table linens. But, historically, linens were manufactured primarily from fibers of the flax plant ("linum usitatisimum"). The word "linen" gave rise to a number of other terms such as 'linoleum,' another sustainable item a floor covering made partially from linseed oil (from the flax plant).
Flax fiber is strong, durable, and resistant to rotting in damp climates. It has a long "staple" (individual fiber length) relative to cotton and other natural fibers. The fiber in its un-spun state is called flax. After it is spun into yarn its known as linen.
